Video of Cory Doctorow’s talk
August 03, 2008
On July 22nd, Cory Doctorow spoke at the inaugural Cambridge Business Lecture.
Cory is a blogger, science fiction author and journalist. He is editor of Boing Boing, the world’s 11th best blog (according to Time magazine). In this fantastic, wide-ranging and quick-fire talk, he talks about copyright, why DRM is doomed, piracy, and much more. Even Paris Hilton’s genitalia get a mention.
The next speaker at Cambridge Business Lectures is John Bird, the founder of the Big Issue. Go here to read more, and to sign up.
We’ve got a bunch more speakers who’ll be speaking at future Cambridge Business Lectures, including world-famous business people, academics and politicians. We’ll be announcing the full program soon. To stay up to date, subscribe to the RSS feed or subscribe to the e-mail newsletter.

Damn, Cory – you speak very quickly, therefore making it basically impossible for me to understand anything you’re saying.
I believe I caught the phrase “hard drive” and you mentioned something about about digital rights management.
Otherwise your talk was incomprehensible to me.
Maybe I’m simply slow, but if you’re part of what comprises the new reality of the early 21st Century then count me out.
Maybe you can join an auction house and auction off race horses (I reiterate…you’re speedy!)

Well said.
The pro-intellectual “property” fanatics need to wake up to the laws of physics.

Cory Doctorow is akin to a giddy fellow who I sometimes see outide my local train station begging (happily) for change.
This fellow mistakenly and consistently believes that by being giddy, annoying and fakely optimistic I will somehow (someday) give him money.
In my view, the future of the world (the planet, the global economy, the eco-system…the internet!) looks dim and is (in fact) dim.
I see things falling apart sometime within the next 40-70 years. Who’s going to be reading Doctorow’s silly “young peoples” science fiction novels after the impending collapse of civilization
CD is a giddy buffoon

The person above is obviously working for some copyright holder. Cowardly anonymous personal attack? What, scared of the truth?
